2019-09-21-IAC-Salina-KS: The International Aerobatic Competition (IAC) for 2019 was held at the Salina, Kansas Airport (KSNL) September 19-22, 2019. There were about 80 aerobatic airplanes and about 6 gliders. Denali Aerotows, Bob Lynn, owner, supplied aerotows for the gliders along with the Top Cub tow plane from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) from Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Salina Airport NOTAM-ed everything west of their main runway 17/35 as closed for the duration of the practice and competition days. Yes, the wind blows and it rains in Salina! We had some late starts and early endings... and when it was time to go home, we got weathered into a nearby airport at Ellsworth, KS (9K7) overnight. Glider launching was well orchestrated by the USAFA Staff and Cadets and coordination between the tow planes worked very well. I would do this again. 10/03/19.
