2017-08-06-Lake-Powell-Houseboat-Jet-Skis: Lake Powell Houseboat trip, Sun-Sun, noon-noon, 08/06/17-08/13/17. We drive out over two days, Fort Collins to Grand Junction for final fresh produce shopping and cheap(er) fuel for the boat(s) and vehicles, overnight at Green River, UT, then 100 miles to Bullfrog Basin after a stop at "Stan's" in Hanksville, UT for breakfast and milk shakes. Our crew of 12 had a wonderful time on the lake. The first night we motored to Bowens Canyon, next to Reflection Canyon, then Cha Bay, returning via Iceberg Canyon, last night on the Bullfrog Buoy 501. There was a ski boat sortie to Rainbow Bridge and Dangling Rope Marina (not reachable by land, fully supplied by water barge). We had our ski boat, "Raven" and 2 recently purchased marvelous Sea-Doo Jet Skis, 4 stroke, 130hp, called "Zoom 1" and Zoom 2". Fun training with the training, then zooming the water. One MUST wear the protective dive pants to avoid an unfortunate influx of water. We had a week of warm weather, warm water, and few bugs. Micah successfully operated the "Air Chair". Several successfully water skied The Connelly "Big Daddy" slalom ski was also used... We should have one! We had excess equipment... we never did get the round tube or triangle tube out on the water for skimming and only took a few rides down the water slide. This was a week full of eating, sleeping, drinking homebrew beer (Thank you Perry!!!!), eating, water sports, relaxing, reading and exploring on and off the water. The 2017 Perseids Meteor Shower peaked this week on August 11 and 12, unfortunately the moon was also full this week and we only saw a few meteors. When the moon was not up, the view of the Milky Way was Fabulous! Everyone off the boat for hikes had or was with someone with a radio and GPS... no one got lost, all crew was recovered! We turned over the WildWind II to the next crew at 11:15 AM on Sunday, 08/13/17 and headed for home, arriving back at Fort Collins about 10PM.
