2015-08-21-Mtn-Flying-LaGarita-Hooper: Mountain training flight with Rick Turley in his personal Cessna 182 N8768M. The atmosphere was smoke filled from the fires on the west coast of the United States. Visibility was nominally about 8 miles in smoke, where the visibility is usually over 100 nautical miles in Colorado. We flew from Fort Collins/Loveland Airport (KFNL), Loveland, Colorado to LaGarita Ranch Airport (5CO6) (identifier recently moved from Meyers Ranch), South Fork, Colorado, to Great Sand Dunes Recreation Hot Springs Pool Airport (on DEN sectional, not charted), Hooper, Colorado, (click for link), for lunch, then west to Quarter Circle Circle Ranch Airport, ~25 miles SE of Gunnison, Colorado, where it was too windy to land, then back to KFNL.
