2011-07-25-Oshkosh-AirVenture: Oshkosh AirVenture 07/25/2011-07/31/2011 (Mon-Sun). Highlights for me for this year's AirVenture were: listening to "war stories" from Bob Hoover, Chuck Yeager, Burt Rutan and Dick Rutan, "Aviator" movie introduction by Harrison Ford in person at "Fly-in" Theater... viewing the Boeing 787 "experimental" Dreamliner (It has "Experimental" over the doors :-) ... volunteering at KidVenture teaching some ground school topics and then putting them into the Schweizer 1-26 glider to have their picture taken... REO Speedwagon played a fun concert on Monday evening... several times we got "off campus" for an evening meal... it seemed to rain "buckets" every-other day but my camp was setup so that I was "high and dry" all the time, once gain I volunteered to work "EAA Flightline Safety" where they gave me a scooter and safety vest and I got to "patrol" the flight line, pausing periodically to take pictures of the crowd line and the flightline/airshow from the "front line" :-) ... Participated in "Cessnas to Oshkosh" (C2O), where we trained for loose formation flight thru the year and did a "mass arrival" of Cessnas on Saturday, 07/23/2011 around 3PM, we got our party tent setup and had a dry place out of the rain for breakfast each morning and movies each evening. Other than that, it was a calm and un-eventful vacation. :-)
