Edwards AFB hosted the first ever fly-in of civilian aircraft to the historic Rosamond Dry Lake, on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. About 100 pilots won landing slots by lottery, out of about 2,000 applicants. Many who didn't win drove in. The longest flight was made by a pilot from Connecticut. The event included an FAA safety briefing about restricted airspace and avoiding midair collisions, presentations about women test pilots at Edwards, and tales of famous flight tests.
